Kids Classes

A range of kids classes is offered, both during the school terms and during school holidays. The dates below refer to 2009. Ages given are indicative only. Please ask if your child is younger/older than ages stated or if you are unsure if your child would be suitable to join any of these classes. Bookings are essential for all activities. Term-long kids classes follow school terms and do not break for the Uni holidays. Enrolments are welcome throughout the term.

Creative Pottery for Children

Have fun stimulating the imagination and creating creatures such as monkeys, dogs, fairies, dinosaurs and monsters using a range of techniques including hand building and the potters wheel. This course runs year-round during school terms. Suitable for children aged 5-12 years. All materials provided. Please bring a smock.

Chocolate Making for Kids

Anyone for chocolate? Come along to this chocolate making workshop in the school holidays. Learn to use moulds to make delicious chocolates and package them to give as gifts. Suitable for children 7yrs+. Materials provided.

Chocolate Bento Boxes

Bento is Japanese for 'lunch box'. We will create a scene by filling a box with handmade chocolates, and incorporating shapes and faces whilst learning lots of chocolate skills along the way. Suitable for children 8 yrs + who have already completed our chocolate making courses.

Pre-school Pottery Fun

Have lots of messy fun rolling, squelching, prodding and stretching clay in this one hour session. Allows children to explore clay, which is a great sensory experience and much more challenging and stimulating than playdough. Suitable for 3-5 year olds. Adult participation required. Please bring a smock.

A Day with Clay for Children

Will your vessel have a handle or a stem? Will it have a dragon flying around the outside or a ladybird inside the rim? Come and invent your own drinking vessel handmade from clay!

Family Pottery Day

Get the whole family together and enjoy a fun-filled session in our pottery studio. This relaxed class allows parents, children, grandparents, uncles, aunts and all the rest to have a play with clay, try the pottery wheel and have fun with handbuilding. Suitable for those with no experience. Materials provided. Please bring a smock for children and wear old clothes.

Holiday Cartooning for Kids

Learn easy techniques for drawing hilarious cartoons of people and animals. Have lots of fun drawing your favourite characters or celebrities. No drawing experience needed, suitable for children 8 yrs and above. Please bring along plenty of paper and grey lead pencils. Book early to avoid disappointment - numbers strictly limited.

Cooking for Kids

Want to learn how to cook your own delicious meals and snacks? Have fun cooking some yummy dishes that are easy to make at home with simple ingredients. Suitable for children 8yrs+. All ingredients provided.

Origami for Kids

Have fun with the Japanese art of paper folding. Learn how to make stars, animals and other shapes from bright colourful paper. Suitable for children 8yrs+. Please bring coloured pencils, all other materials provided.

Creating Dragons

There are many different kinds of dragons around the world. What will you like yours to be? Will it be a dragon breathing fire? Or just hatching from its egg? This is a hands on imaginative lesson using clay in our pottery studio.

Summer Throwing

One of the most fun things you can do these holidays! Come and have a go on the potter wheel. Feel the clay spin beneath your hands, while you are making a pot to take home!

Sculpt Puppet Heads

Puppets are fun to make! We will look at a number of different puppet types. You will make your own unique design using clay. You can have a puppet with 2 faces; will they be happy or sad? Or a puppet with a big moustache that looks like your dad!? Draw some idea before the class and bring them in to share.
