Organic Vegie Growing

Taught by Kat & Paul from Permablitz, this one- day interactive course will provide an overview of permaculture and is suitable for anyone interested in growing their own food in a sustainable way. Learn where to place your food growing areas and how to get started. Covers making compost, the use of worms, green manures, natural fertilisers, pest & weed control, companion planting and getting started with seeds and seedlings. Req: Notepad and pen.

Beginners Guide to Compost and Worms

Composting is the purposeful biodegradation of organic matter, such as yard and food waste. The decomposition is performed by micro-organisms, mostly bacteria, but also yeasts and fungi. In low temperature phases a number of macro-organisms, such as springtails, ants, nematodes, isopods and earthworms also contribute to the process, as well as soldier fly, fruit flies and fungus gnats. There are a wide range of organisms in the decomposer community.

Car Maintenance

Save money by taking care of your car. Gives an excellent all-round introduction to the workings and maintenance of your car. Covers brakes, the cooling system, fuel & electrical systems, suspension, basic service procedures, safety aspects and fault finding. Theory & practical components. Req: Notepad and pen, wear old clothes.

Bicycle Maintenance

Covers: puncture repair, adjusting brakes and gears, wheel bearings overhauls, cable replacement, troubleshooting problems and more. Entirely hands-on. Tools provided. Req. a bicycle. Old clothes. (9 hours)
