Introduction to Computers and Windows

This class is designed for people who are new to computers and want to gain some hands-on experience and confidence in a small class with a supportive trainer. This class covers how computers work, the Windows operating system, Windows explorer, working with folders and files, Internet explorer basics, browsing the web, using WinZip, using adobe reader, printing and finding files. All participants will have access to a computer throughout the course.
Upon completion, students have the option of completing assessments that may result in statements of attainment issued by Advanced Training for the Nationally Recognised units ICAU2005A Operate computer hardware, ICAU2231A Use computer operating system, ICAU1128A Operate a Personal Computer (assessment fee applies). These units form part of the Certificate II in Information Technology (IT) ICA20105.

Word Essentials - Producing and Modifying Documents

Learn to navigate the menus and tool bars and put together and edit simple documents. All participants have access to a computer. Covers producing and formatting basic documents and includes features such as cut/paste/copy, inserting symbols, formatting (fonts, text size & colour, spacing, indents, bullets, alignment), working with tabs and creating & formatting basic tables. Includes comprehensive manual. Prereqs: “Introduction to Computers & Windows” course or equivalent knowledge. Upon completion, students have the option of completing assessments that may result in statements of attainment issued by Advanced Training for the Nationally Recognised units ICAD2012A Design organizational documents using computing packages & ICAU2006A Operate computer packages (assessment fee applies). Word Intermediate - Beyond Basics

Targeted towards those with some exposure to word processing wishing to further develop their skills in preparing and formatting business or academic documents. Covers advanced formatting of tables (drawing, nesting, merging and splitting cells, table alignment, changing row height/column width, wrapping text), working with pictures (inserting, moving, resizing, cropping), creating Drawing objects, using Styles for formatting, merging documents & creating mail labels, using section breaks, creating & changing headers/footers and working with fields. Includes comprehensive manual. Prereqs: Basic word processing such as ‘Word Essentials’ or equivalent knowledge.
Upon completion, students have the option of completing assessments that may result in statements of attainment issued by Advanced Training for the Nationally Recognised unit ICAU2013A Integrate commercial computing packages (assessment fee applies). Word Advanced - Protect, Manage and Customise Documents

Learn the more complex features of Word to create more professional and sophisticated documents. Topics include: using Auto features, importing objects, managing styles, working with longer documents (footnotes, endnotes, Table of Contents, creating an Index), working with columns, Outlining, advanced merging techniques (conditional merges, sorting, skipping, prompts), working with WordArt, prompting fields and Macros. Introduction to Outlook

This course aims to increase your productivity by providing the skills and knowledge to use Microsoft Outlook 2003 to create and work with contacts, create and manage e-mail, use the calendar, organise and schedule meetings & events, setup and manage tasks. PowerPoint I - Getting Started

Create professional presentation material for work or study using your PC. Gives a comprehensive introduction to the basic concepts of PowerPoint.
